Mark admitted he had never seen the man before. Linda immediately turned toward Jessica and demanded she explain who she had secretly met yesterday.

Jessica’s hands trembled. She insisted the photographs were not what Mark thought, but when he asked for the truth, she whispered, “I can’t.”

Those two words changed everything. Mark stepped backward as Linda declared Jessica had finally admitted the betrayal she had supposedly been hiding for months.

Jessica denied cheating, but Linda demanded an explanation for the hotel. Jessica glanced toward Rachel, whose expression revealed that she already knew the truth.

Mark noticed immediately. “Rachel knows?” His voice broke as he asked whether everyone understood what was happening except the man Jessica was supposed to marry.

Outside, the church organ continued playing while nearly one hundred fifty guests waited. Mark’s father had flown from Arizona, and Jessica’s grandmother traveled from Ohio.

Everything had been prepared for their wedding, yet Mark now stared at Jessica as though the woman standing before him had suddenly become a stranger.

Mark ordered Linda to leave. A church coordinator arrived with a security volunteer, and Linda finally walked away, convinced she had prevented her son’s mistake.

Mark had already sent himself the photographs. He showed Jessica the hotel image again and asked whether she had been romantically involved with the stranger.

“No,” Jessica answered. She finally identified him as David Miller from Chicago, but when Mark asked how she knew David, Jessica became silent again.

Mark reminded her they were supposed to marry within minutes. She admitted meeting David secretly, hugging him, entering his hotel, and allowing him to touch her face.

Jessica began crying. “The truth isn’t only mine.” Mark removed his boutonniere and placed it on the vanity. “Then the wedding waits until I know it.”
